Finish Chipping

The appearance of too much (premature) wear on a relatively new finish.

Cracked Boards

Check & splits – separations of the wood that occur across or through the annual rings.

Delamination

Separation of a layer from an adjoining one within a piece of engineered flooring.

Cupping

A washboard effect where the edges of the boards are high and the centres are low.

Gapping

Gaps that appear between individual boards and open and close with changes in humidity.

Buckling

Excessive expansions causing the wood flooring to release from the subfloor.
